Volunteers Still Needed! The main part of the log breastwork, which will be defended by French Forces during the encampment, has been completed (see acknowledgements below), but there is still more work to be done. You have not missed your chance to help rebuild this historic fortification.
Work will continue soon on the abatis (the treetop and brush entanglement in front of the breastwork), the log firing step behind the breastwork, and the sandbags that will be placed on top of the breastwork. Here are the work days (all Saturdays): March 15, April 19, May 3, May 17, and May 31. Whether or not you are a reenactor, we need your help! If interested, email me at karl@fort-ticonderoga.org or call me (518) 585-2821. Thanks! --Karl L. Crannell, Public Programs Coordinator

Our biggest Thank You goes to Carl Malikowski, of the Hinsdale Garrison Company. Without his generosity, enthusiasm, and dedication this website would not exist.
If the information presented here helps you prepare for and enjoy the Battle of Carillon event next June, then please take time during the event to stop by the Hinsdale camp in the civilian area and thank Carl for making the website possible. We cannot proceed without thanking the volunteers who helped build the log breastwork. In my 32 years in living history, I have never seen such an expression of the volunteer spirit. The people listed below gave up a Saturday each month from May to December 2007 to come to Fort Ticonderoga--sometimes driving four or five hours--to work for free in merciless heat and bitter cold. The list includes the people who came up with the idea of building the French Lines, people who couldn’t make the work days but donated drill bits and made wooden pins instead, and Fort Ticonderoga staff members who volunteered on their days off. What a great group of people to work with!
Here they are, listed in alphabetical order:
